Geology Map of England

England displays a huge diversity in geology, with a greater variety in small areas than anywhere else in Europe. The varied geology in the South East Region offers a wide range of building materials for walling and roofing, making a major contribution to local distinctiveness in parts of the Region. Over much of the chalk and clay areas timber framing and brick are characteristic.
